Yes, the Department of Transportation specifically states that all drivers with a CDL must participate in a random drug and alcohol testing consortium, regardless of whether you are an owner operator or are employed by a company.
How do I get started with a compliant, DOT drug testing program?

When can I expect test results?

For DOT drug testing, negative results can be recorded and reported via our secure channels within two to three business days. If the initial drug test is positive, the medical review officer will first contact the employee to see if there is a legitimate medical reason for the positive before determining if the test results are positive.
